Crawling and scooting babies have a new motivation- Squeeky Knees is a product collection featuring a patent-pending squeaker device sewn into garments that creates a fun squeaking sound when baby is on the go. Whether they are crawling on hardwood floors or taking their first steps (and falls), Squeeky Knees are designed to encourage babies to be mobile.
Lisa Day Evans created Squeeky Knees in 2010 after watching her son Elijah learning to crawl on hard surfaces. She realized he needed something comfortable to cushion his knees and prevent abrasions that also inspired him to explore his newfound ability to crawl.
A few additional Squeeky Knees features:
-Cushioned squeaker device in knee and butt regions add comfort
-Alerts parents to baby’s location with the squeaking sounds
-Washable/dryable in standard machines
Lisa partnered with Right Bank Babies, a collection of Parisian-inspired children’s clothing, to create unique Squeeky Knees styles, including knee highs, jeans, pants, overalls/onesies, and stockings/leggings. Squeeky Knees retail for $25 to $80 and are sold at www.rightbankbabies.com, as well as other fine boutiques that carry Right Bank Babies.

Livie & Luca shoes were recently honored to receive the award for the category “Pre-Walkers” at the 12th Annual Footwear Plus magazine Plus Awards. The Plus Awards provide recognition for excellence in design for footwear in 2010, and indie brand Livie & Luca was recognized alongside industry leaders including Nike and New Balance. Best known for their whimsical yet classic designs- think elephants, peacocks, blossoming flowers- and flexible soles, Livie & Luca has gained a loyal customer following and respect in the footwear industry.
“We’re a company that’s not afraid to take chances and it’s paid off,” said Mitzi Rivas, co-owner of Livie & Luca. “We’re a group of gals who design from our hearts. Even though we’re the little guys, we’re mighty.”

Livie & Luca children shoes incorporate brightly colored leathers, bold designs and whimsical modern touches that capture the playful essence of childhood. Livie & Luca’s designs are inspired by nature, folklore and the rich imagination of children. Their comfortable construction allows kids to navigate playgrounds, city streets and dirt pathways with style and ease.
Livie & Luca was formed in 2005 when three friends, all new moms, compared notes and discovered there weren’t any shoes on the market with the modern designs, flexible soles and affordable prices they craved. Deciding to create their own shoes, Livie & Luca was born, with the fitting tagline “Adorable shoes for adorable feet.”

With an independent spirit and a commitment to giving back, Livie & Luca partners with its customers and Art for Humanity to facilitate the donation of gently-worn shoes to children in Honduras. Children living in poverty are given possibly their first pair of shoes for school and protection from soil-borne infections caused by walking barefoot.
Designed to “tread lightly” on the earth, Livie & Luca incorporates eco-friendly practices wherever possible. This commitment to the environment combined with fresh designs and taking cues from children’s creativity, has created the magic that is Livie & Luca.

Not one to rest on their laurels, Livie & Luca will be debuting a women’s shoe in fall 2011, in response to women commenting they wished their children’s shoes came in their size. To learn more about Livie & Luca and view their current collection, visit www.livieandluca.com.
