Casalinda Studio is an elegant, sculptural collection of recycled silver jewelry by San Diego, CA-based artist Linda DaPra. The debut collection is inspired by California native flowers, mudcracks, and other natural elements. Casalinda pieces, many retailing for $100 and under, use only recycled, reclaimed, and vintage precious metals, stones, and pearls. Any new gemstones and beads are produced in the U.S. or by Fair Trade Federation suppliers and the jewelry is packaged in recycled materials.
Casalinda Studio draws inspiration from the mountains, deserts, and ocean of San Diego. The California native flowers pieces are influenced by the works of A.R. Valentien, who was commissioned by philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps to paint these endangered flowers. DaPra is drawn to the dichotomy between rough, imperfect elements in nature and beautifully fashioned metal art, calling her pieces “little sculptures.”
Casalinda Studio jewelry is divided into three unique collections:
Linda is the classic, museum-quality jewelry featuring timeless designs in bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches, and pendants. California poppies, sage flowers, and hibiscus flowers are prominently showcased in the Linda collection.
Kate is the younger, trendier collection with recycled silver chains sculpted in the shape of mudcracks, sea bubbles, and water puddles. These pieces are perfect for layering and easily go from day to night.
Adlina is a collection of heirloom-quality jewelry perfect for special occasions and weddings. Silver hibiscus, sage, and buttercup flower designs are artfully combined with freshwater pearls and crystals.
In addition to maintaining an eco-friendly collection, Casalinda Studio regularly contributes to the Designers 4 Africa charity, where artists donate their creations to be auctioned off for the cause.
Small boutiques, galleries, and wineries are currently carrying Casalinda, including Trios Gallery in Solana Beach, CA, and Donna Marsh clothing boutique in La Jolla, CA. Pieces can also be purchased at www.casalindastudio.com, including custom orders.
