Stylish ittikid began after owner Melanie Miller fell in love with a Scandinavian shirt that wasn’t available in the U.S. Searching high and low for the simple shirt, Miller, a native of Denmark, came across several intriguing Scandinavian brands for children and even adults. In 2007 ittikid was launched, an online boutique featuring stylish clothes, décor, and accessories hand-selected by Miller from Denmark and Sweden.
The former owner and creator of the popular Yolk design store in Silver Lake, CA, Miller draws from her design background and hip fashion sense when selecting the finest looks for ittikid. Miller sold Yolk in early 2007 to relocate to Northern California in order to be closer to family and try her hand at country living with husband Hus and son Oliver.
Ittikid’s high-quality, gender neutral and colorful play clothes feature fun prints ranging from green hippos, red apples, pink elephants, tractors, Vikings, and more. Mid to high-priced and super high quality, ittikid offers infant clothing from 50 cm (preemie/newborn) up to 2 years in most cases. Eye-catching onesies are typically priced at $30 and rompers at $39. T-shirts, dresses and pants generally start at 1 year and go up to at least 5 or 6 years, with larger sizes being introduced in some styles.
ittikid offers selections from these brands:
Plastisock: a Swedish clothing collection of colorful patterned pieces suited for both boys and girls.
Smafolk: a Danish collection of whimsical, vibrantly colored graphic pieces with a modern yet silly vibe.
Ej Sikke Lej: a Danish collection of t-shirts, dresses, trousers, and more featuring fun animal prints.
Danefae: a Danish collection featuring their best-selling, playful Viking prints on onesies, t-shirts and more.
Catering to design-savvy, hip parents from Los Angeles to Brooklyn, ittikid is a great one-stop shop for mixing and matching wild patterns and prints. In addition to clothing, ittikid offers stylish kid totes, back packs, bibs, hats, and blankets, as well as décor, including brightly patterned curtains and animal mobiles.
